And now the good news is....
We had our first Dj set at Fashion Keyboard, Melbourne on the 25th july, 10-12pm. I'd say it went off and where would we be without connections, eh?. So Hooraaa for that.

A Night In The Love Motel

We've had this in our folder for a while now and finally we can do a post because finally someone did their job!
Love motel are a stylish outfit from the home of the famous Swiss Army knife, Switzerland.............. Their promotor literally sent over a potato sack full of remixes for us. Chilled and upbeat dancey dance, it's got remixes from Grum, Cryptonites and Leonard de Leonard just to name a few. Also if you want all the remixes, you can go on a magical treasure hunt and explore the wonderful world of music blogs. So when you've got the whole set, invite a lot of drop dead gorgeous girls to your house (but don't make a party out of it) and get some of those flashy flashy laser lights happening, a big mirror ball, smoke machine and turn of all the house lights and get the spin doctor to wear christmas lights all over himself. And finally get seriously hammered and dance like a baboon on mushies because this album is great for pumping up really loud and pissing off the neighbors un-till the Jacks pull up and shout "alright guys, parties over". Then you'd say, "what party? There's only 4 people here."......................Or is there........................;
Peace in the middle east.

There Is A Magical Land

A Mystical fusion of magical lullaby sounds created in a child's dream. Thats what it sounds like when you listen to Ghost in the Water's new Album 'Tooth'. Hailing from
Minneapolis, Minnesota, this duo somehow, have created a whole magical land in their basement, creating amazing sounds from electronic sources as well as hand made sounds from guitars to chimes all the way to synthesizers to percussion. The contrast between male/female vocals adds that extra special quality to their delicate dreamy songs. Its quite incredible how much detail you can hear in one song when you close your eyes, lying down on a comfy bed and letting your imagination run free. Just beautiful. I've chosen 2 songs i really like, however they're all fair good so check them out at
myspace and get the album.

Ice Cold Melbourne Winter

I Love Swedish bands! Especially The Radio Dept. The group named it after a gas-station-turned-radio-repair-shop called "Radioavdelningen" (The Radio Department in Swedish). I first heard of them when i was in Thailand of all places and saw their 'Pulling Our Weight' music video on television. With I think 8 Ep's and 3 albums since 1995, The Radio Dept. have gone through alot of changes. Starting out as a 2 piece, then going through 7 other members, they are now a 3 piece consisting of Johan Duncanson, Martin Larsson and Daniel Tjader. The sound they produce has a kind of a raw vibe to it with a subtle ambience feel. To some of their songs, I'd say its like having a whole bunch of Soothers in your mouth, then drinking a glass of ice water on a cold, frosty Melbourne winters day. Now Thats Ice Fresh! So, heres a couple of finely selected tunes for you.

Sitting By The Fire

I cant believe how sexy this vocalist is. I mean her voice. I think its the raspiness that does it. Especially in GETO BOYS. I'm so dooped that i missed out when they came to Melbourne. I'm talking about the band GLASS CANDY. Johnny Jewel and Ida No. You should've heard about them before, playing at V festival, if you haven't, check out their myspace. They're like 70's italo disco with their futuristic echoes of the past and 80's synths. Its just really sexy lounge music. Sexy, sexy, sexy. Somone roll me one thanks.

I'm Falling In Love

I had a weird dream the other night. I was boppin up and down to a tune by A Flock Of Seagulls called Space Age Love Song in some kind of club during the 80's. There were people everywhere, neon lights, smoke machines and balloons above the ceiling, it was spectacular. However, while i was dancing around, this really beautiful girl with curly boofed up brown hair, wearing high tight stressed denim caught my eye. We made eye contact and to my surprise she was touching her herself. I was definitely aroused. So i slowly walked up to this fine looking female and as it so happens we started passionately kissing. It seemed so real too.
Then i woke up and needed to go to the toilet..............
What a classic song.

Stand Fresh, Come On...

Once again, France is the place to be to discover up and coming electro pop musicians. And with that, i present 'Franklean'. Influenced by the french, british and australian electronic scene i can tell that 80's synthesizer pop is coming back dramatically. His song 'get up stand fresh' is definitely fresh and at TRKD we love saying FRESH!! I love songs that are inspired by the 80's because it brings back fond memories of our youth. Like when you had that moment of when you lost that beautiful girl and at the end of it all, it got better because there were plenty of fish in the bloody sea. This song documents that nicely.
He specifically told me not to make it downloadable. I guess this is just a build up to what amazing tunes he will be creating next. So visit his  myspace.

Defte into the cosmos

Defte, is Michael Delaporte, an artist from New York who describes his music as a synthetic appreciation of sound design. Smart words i'd say, because it really does relate to his music. So Fresh, so clean, so tight, so atmospheric, so beautiful, so skillful. What else can i say?
I've supplied for you people a song called Below Seven. Just have a listen and pump it up, its a bloody masterpiece!!

Its Friday, who wants Joints?

FactoryFactory is a local from Melbourne, who just discovered the Valerie Collective late last year and really got inspired by the sounds that they were creating. With his background in producing experimental music for the past 2 years, 'FF' decided to create his own sound influenced by Italo pop, textures from the 70's and 80's and space travel films. So I got him to hook me up with a tune of his. A song called Night Patrol, it sounds really deep and mellow as if it were from the black hole. Something to definitely smoke up to. Enjoy the weekend.......

Bruce saw her naked once.

I just love France, they have beautiful women and a beautiful electronic scene. And thats where i discovered Double Dragon. Not literally in France but i guess you could call it the 'myspace version'. I love songs that remind me of a place and time, and Double Dragons song 'Melodrame' does just that. It takes me back to my imaginary eighties days (if i had lived though the 80's) at college, senior year. The picture above isn't one of mine but lets just imagine that i was in that class (I'm not in the photo because i was taking the photo) and i would've been best friends with that chubby dude on the far left whose name could've been Bruce. Ah yeah, used to tell the funniest jokes that kid. We used to always get picked on by those 4 bullies at the back, total rough heads they were. And finally you see that foxy blonde on the far right up on Todds shoulders, yep me and Bruce saw her naked once. Good Times.

Where we ridin...........?

I was just doing my daily browse through Myspace and came across this catchy party fun boppin' band from sunny Queensland. They remind me of Melbourne's Gameboy/Gamegirl, however, BMX are a band totally inspired by the '84 classic film 'BMX Bandits'. BMX's sound is so distinctively 80's that when you listen to their song 'Theme To BMX' you'll want to put on that old racing suit you've had at the bottom of your cupboard for 30 years and hop on your old blue BMX on a nice sunny day with blue sky's and pop a few wheelies on the way to my house.
And when you get there, you'll tip the bike upside down on my lush green lawn to make a few adjustments and admire your wonderful wheels while i bring out red cordial in colored plastic cups. Those were the days...........

I See The sun Disappear......

I just discovered this lovely band on monday. They're called Chromatics and 'Italians Do It Better' is the label they're on and what a cool name it is too. When i first heard the vocals, i just fell deep in my chair. Soothing fresh, kind of raspy with a little similarity to that of Goldfrapp. Very chilled and laid back as if you were in a nice warm cosy bar. They have an album out called NIGHT DRIVE and you can order it for only $12 with Paypal.

I've supplied for you one that i just cant enough of, titled 'Night Drive'.
I just love it because it just sounds mysterious and the lyrics are cool:

I take a drive in my car
I take a drive in my car
I see the sun disappear
I see the sun disappear
oh oh little stranger, bring my baby back to me
oh oh little stranger, bring my baby back home to me.
My leather glove grips the wheel
My leather glove grips the wheel
I see the sun disappear
I see the sun disappear
oh little stranger, bring my baby back to me
oh little stranger, bring my baby back home
windows down my hair in the breeze
windows down my hair in the breeze
you see the sun reappear, you see the sun reappear
oh oh little stranger, bring my baby back to me
oh oh little stranger, bring my baby back home to me.

Night Drive - chromatics

And because i feel revitalized after reading those lyrics, heres another song called 'In The City'
Enjoy!!

Prissa

Two wonderful gals from Chile who go by the name of 'Prissa' seduced me by their simple electro pop style. Although they dont sing in english, the sensual language they do use (i think its Spanish) mixed with smooth clean harmonies and electro pop melodies is so soothing to the ears. All their songs remind me of a warm cosy friendly atmosphere, drinking, conversing, passing around a few well rolled joints while listening to Prissa. You should try it sometime. And listen to their other songs.
So here is one of my favorites, an oldie from 2006 titled 'Logica'

Back to South Beach we go

Fliami Vice is obviously heavily influenced by the 1984/89 T.V show Miami Vice. And who doesnt like that show? His song 'Street Light City' just captures every part of Miami-Dade Police Departmenti during the 80's with its synthesized pop style. Chuck this on your Ipod and listen to it while walking down Ocean Drive, you'll feel like Sonny Crockett or Rico Tubbs. The first time i listened to it i knew that this was going to be one of my most played songs.
I feel like watching Miami Vice now!!

Disco on a warm summer night

I dont know what it stands for, but who cares. What matters is that he makes great music all the way from Mexico. Yeah, smooth, cool, chilled, delicate and sexy are the words i get from listening to P4KO's track 'Love 4U'. It reminds me of a groovin' disco on a warm summer night, with a sexy atmosphere and beautiful women drinking martinis. Oh yeah baby! Dont forget to give him some Myspace lovin'.

Monday Morning Acid Anyone?

Its been a fair while since our introduction, but we have been busy to the core with finding extremely talented electronic musicians. And what better way to start our journey then on a monday, with some 'Monday Morning Acid' by a very cool artist who goes by the name of ELEKTRONIK from the Uk. Experimental/Electro/Techno is what it is and its something you'd listen too late at night lying in a dark room with adhesive stars on the ceiling.
If you checkout his myspace, you'll notice his done heaps of tracks, however out of the odd million he has on there, i got hooked on Monday Morning Acid because it has that great delicate calmness feel to it, like your floating in outer space.
